Maybelline Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Shadows –now in Singapore!

While I was out and about last weekend in Singapore, I spotted Maybelline’s Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Shadows – finally, the wait is over! There have been rave reviews about these online, so it’s nice to know they’ve finally hit the sunny little island (translated – within easy reach!)

There are a total of 8 colours available – Bad to the Bronze, Fierce & Tangy, Painted Purple, Tough as Taupe, Tenacious Teal, Edgy Emerald, Bold Gold and Audacious Asphalt.

I was messing about with the testers at BHG, and so far Bad to the Bronze seems to be my favourite out of the lot, with Audacious Asphalt coming in a close second. I’ve seen them available at BHG, Guardian and Swanston so far, so they shouldn’t be difficult to hunt down. They’re going for SG$15.90 each if I remember correctly, although you can get them for SG$12.95 at Swanston.

PS: A very belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Can’t believe we’re already into the second week of January, and I’m still editing photos from November (super fail, this one). First and foremost resolution for 2013 – get back to some semblance of regular posting! :)

Melbourne Haul – Part 1: Cosmetics!

Now that I’ve finally had a bit of time to sort through all the stuff I brought back, I realised my purchases fell into rather distinct categories! What to do, I’m probably quite a creature of habit eh? :P

Anyhoo, I thought I’d share the cosmetics bit with you today (I’ll save the bigger bottles and tubes for the next part)…some of the items were bought and some were given, but they’re all gorgeous! :D

First up are the nail polishes – can’t believe I came back with 13 bottles! *shock*

Top Row (L-R): Ulta3 in Orchid, Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Lady Luck and Big Money, Revlon Matte Suede in Fire Fox and Emerald City, Revlon Starry Pink
Bottom Row (L-R): Essence Nail Polish in Blue Addicted (finally!!), Australis Crystal colour Top Coat, some purple shimmer polish (I can’t quite make out the name of because the bottle leaked over the label), Ozotic Elytra 530, BYS Matte Topcoat, SAX nail polish in No.54, Maybelline Mini Colorama in 135 Tart

I also picked up several boxes of Sally Hansen Salon Effects since they were on sale – at Target it was 40% off at one point, and some were on cheap sale at the local chemists. On the left are press on wraps that have 3D patterns on them…I might just try the Kiss Nail Dress ones for the Gaga concert next week!

Next up is mascaras and eyeshadows – Tina kindly let me try the Face of Australia Impact Curl mascara (which the Aussie ladies have been raving about), and I picked up the Australis Voluptulash mascara on Tine’s recommendation. The fat red tube is Maybelline’s One by One Volume mascara which I believe was a limited edition (with the corset print). The Chanel and Innoxa eyeshadows were inherited from Tine, and OMG they’re absolutely gorgeous colours!

One of the more expensive items in my cosmetic stash this visit – an Ellis Faas Eye Light pen…I tried it on at the Becca (I mistook Becca for Mecca *smacks forehead*) Mecca Cosmetics outlet, and fell in love with the colour. :D

Last but definitely not least would be all the lip products…there are a few too many in the photo below to name in sequence, so you’ll just have to match the product to the photo, yeah?

Face of Australia Lip Quench in Forbidden Fruit and Malibu Barbie (thanks Tina!), Nature’s Care Pawpaw lipbalm, Blistex Silk & Shine lipbalm, Face of Australia Sheer Gloss Lip Crayons in Sundae and Cupcake, Crabtree & Evelyn Lip Butters in Pomegranate & Grapeseed and Citron Creme & Honey (both of these smell and taste so good, I should have bought more!), Dior Addict Lip Maximiser (bought on the plane to Australia) and a bunch of U3 lipglosses.

And there you have it…I don’t think I did too badly right? There’s still a whole pile of body and hand creams, lotions, body products, face mists, oils and more to go through… :D

So tell me, did anything in this pile catch your eye? *wink*

Bailey Shops – Weekend Sightings…

Bailey shops
It’s been a while since we last heard from Bailey, yes? He’s been a little busy burrowing a cosy little corner for himself in my bed amongst the new pillows I just got, but he’s all perky today and ready to tell you all about the new finds we spotted over the weekend. :D

Garnier UV Protect Lightweight Daily UV Block Lotion SPF50
First up is the Garnier UV Protect Lightweight daily UV block lotion with SPF50 PA+++ in Beige. I haven’t seen it back in Malaysia yet, but at S$14.90 in Watsons here, it looks pretty interesting. Also, Watsons is having a "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" promo on selected Garnier and Maybelline products from now until 28 March so head on down to check it out if you're interested! :)

Lip Smackers Bottlecap edition
Ohohohoho…look what finally arrived!! I’ve been waiting for this Lip Smackers Bottlecap Edition for almost a month since getting a preview on Beauty Fool, and they’re finally out! There are 3 flavours available – Coca Cola (of course!), Sprite and Fanta Orange. They’re currently retailing for S$6.90 each and available from selected Watsons outlets (preferably the bigger ones). And before you ask, yes I did get a few. *wink*

Bourjois Healthy Balance Unifying Powder
Bourjois Spring 2012 Paris Sucre
For those familiar with BHG in Singapore, the entire store will be having a 20% off all regular-priced items in store. Bourjois fans are sure to rejoice, because this covers pretty much their entire range, including the new Healthy Balance Unifying Powder (upper pic) and the Spring 2012 Paris Sucre makeup. :D

Lady Gaga Born This Way Tour
And last but definitely not least, it’s not beauty-related (and not part of Bailey Shops) but…we’re going to Lady Gaga baybeh! I finally collected the tickets yesterday and we’re ON! Come 29 May, Rinnah, Dom and myself are going to be rocking out dressed err…OTT for it…? :P

And that’s it for this edition of Bailey Shops, hope you ladies had good weekends too! :D

About Bailey Shops:
Bailey is a soft toy dog who will be bringing you little blurbs on promotions he spots while wandering around with his little shopping cart. Apologies in advance if the photos for this section are a little blur though, since his paws can’t work the camera on the phone very well while keeping an eye on his cart.

My Women Stuff Readers' Choice Awards 2011 - EPIC! :D

WARNING: Pic-heavy post!

Right, now that’s sorted – I’d gone back to KL (yes, yet again!) over the weekend for the inaugural My Women Stuff Readers’ Choice Awards on 29th October 2011…and boy, the only word I have for it is…EPIC!

When Paris had said she was thinking of organising this shindig a few months back, we were all massively excited. And now that it’s actually over, we can’t wait for the next round! But more about that later…

The morning got off to a great start with the committee arriving bright and early to help with the set up – although admittedly, we had to be bribed (just a little bit!) with cupcakes and coffee…we don’t play play when there’s Just Heavenly cupcakes served up! :D

Set up didn’t take quite as long as we had expected (yay for awesome pre-planning!), so we had some time to sit down for a bit and chitchat.

In fact, we had enough time to dig out our stuff to swap! LOL…since our group is now rather international, every time we meet there’s something to pass over!

The mastermind and queen Paris – now this is multitasking, people…talking on the phone, signing the board at the same time AND managing to look effortless while doing it!

There were also forms given out for attendees to guess the winners – and I promise, no one bribed me for the answers! :P We had scores from 3 up to 16 out of a total of 25…interesting…

After food and plenty of squeals of “OMG, so YOU’RE **insert blogger/ online/ website name**” throughout the room, everyone was ushered into the room for the winners’ announcement. By the way, I think the statement on the glass was most apt – “Quietly brilliant is doing great things in a humble way with the belief that the best things are experienced, not explained” I'm sure we all had a great experience there, right? :D

And for those of you who are curious as to who the winners are, the list is up on My Women Stuff here.

Once the winners had been announced, the top 4 scorers from the ‘guess the winners’ game were hauled up – and the winner (who actually got the most answers right) AND correctly answered the pop quiz question about My Women Stuff was…Hsu Jen! She walked away with a prize from Estee Lauder…lucky girl!

There was also a bonus prize for anyone who had an item from the winner’s list with them that day – it was no surprise that Lyn@BeautyCabby won…just check out her beauty bag! :D

And then…it was on to the Lucky Draw with Paris and our lovely emcee Juan@toughcookee. There were some epic moments during the drawing for sure, but what happened next was most unexpected…

I picked up the Dior skincare and fragrance hamper worth RM750! Guess it was really lucky No.8 for me that day, since I was later told that was THE grand prize of the draw…*still in shock*

There were also 3 contenders up for Best Dressed – Erin, Dom and Lee...I love how their poses were so alike in this shot! :D The prize of a Clinique fragrance ended up going to Erin (I like to think it was for the rocking boots she wore)

Just Heavenly also sponsored a cake in the form of their Choc and Cheese cake, which was absolutely delicious…there was barely any left once we were done with it!

With the youngest (and cutest!) attendee of the awards…Jebat! :D He’s none other than the son of our emcee Juan, and just check out that happening hairstyle!

And yay, we remembered to take a group pic! L-R: PinkElle, moi, Dom, Paris, Connie, Rinnah, Xin and Lyn. Although…we’re missing Juan, Yani and Plue who had to leave earlier.

Oh, and if you were wondering what was in my Dior prize… :D
(by the way #evurl girls, if you’re reading this…some of this love is gonna come your way soon!)

And last but most definitely not least, the goodie bags! We knew they were going to be epic, but this was just…*jaw drops*

In no particular order, there were items in the bag sponsored by Pantene, Garnier, L'Oreal, Olay, Himalaya, Hada Labo, Revlon, Vichy, Kiehl's, Estee Lauder, Yuan Soap, Maybelline and Esmeria Organics.

Also included in the bag were vouchers from Apronbay, Lace Petals *ahem* and Poise Wellness.

My absolute highlight of the goodie bag? This gorgeous necklace sponsored by Tine of Sweet Contemplation Accessories. I may be biased since she’s family, but heck, she deserves it! :D

There were three options for the necklace as seen *ahem* modelled by Rinnah, myself and Dom. We loves our SCA necklaces, yes we do! :D

And as the saying goes, that’s it for now folks! My Women Stuff Readers’ Choice Awards 2011 may have ended, but hey, there’s no reason why we can’t start looking forward to another one next year right? (although Paris might need a bit more convincing…you know what to do!)

Want to read what some of the other bloggers said about the My Women Stuff Readers’ Choice Awards 2011? :)

You can also read (and feel!) the excitement as the event unfurled on Saturday via Twitter with the #mwsawards hashtag.

Maybelline Volum’Express Magnum Mascara…

Ooo…it’s finally Friday!! :D How are all your plans for the weekend eh? For me, ermm…it’s probably going to be a whole weekend of eating since I’ve got lunch AND dinner appointments every day starting from tonight! (someone’s going to have to crowbar me into my cheongsam come CNY… :S)

Anyway, that aside I thought I’d (finally!) share my thoughts on the latest Maybelline mascara, the Volum’Express Magnum Waterproof Mascara. I’d been meaning to write about it for some time, but never managed to get decent photos of the mascara since I usually use it at night (and my night shot-taking skills are horrible)

Description:
Dramatic, magnified last effect of 10 times the volume, the Volum’Express Magnum Waterproof Mascara is Maybelline New York’s ultimate secret weapon. With the ingenious secret ingredient of the Collagen Formula as well as the new patented oversized Magnum Brush, this waterproof mascara breaks the volume barrier for killer lashes. The Collagen Formula plumps up and volumises the lashes by 10 times giving that luscious thick look. The Magnum Brush seeks out even the smallest last to ensure fine wax dispersion, with a generous and fast charge, ensuring ultra thick lashes with absolutely no clumping.

The Verdict:
I must say the brush is pretty unique with shorter bristles on the inner curve of the wand but longer bristles on the outer curve, which is supposed to make for easier application and building up volume. When I first used this, I could not get it to apply smoothly and it clumped something AWFUL. However, since then I’ve found that as with most mascaras, there’s a knack to applying it.

It surprised me to discover that the Magnum mascara actually applies better when it’s just the tiniest bit dried (thanks to a tip from a couple of fellow bloggers) so what I actually do now is take out the wand and wave it around a couple of times before applying it to my lashes, which I think makes a big difference to the results.

As for Maybelline’s claim of volumisation by 10 times, I can’t actually vouch for that since it didn’t particularly make my lashes go ‘boom’ (the picture above is just two coats), but it did do a pretty good job providing some ‘oomph’ to my lashes (and even lengthened them a tiny bit).

However, on its waterproof claim this mascara is awesome! I accidentally took a swipe at my eyes a minute or so after application and the stuff didn’t budge until I was ready to take it off. As Paris mentioned, cleansing oil does not work well to take this mascara off – you’re better off using a simple eye makeup remover which I can vouch for. Using the makeup remover from Stage got it off without any fuss. :)

Overall I’d say this is a pretty good mascara particularly on its waterproof-ness, and once you get the hang of applying it you should have a breeze with it.

Maybelline New York Volum’Express Magnum Waterproof mascara retails at RM35.90 and is available at major supermarkets and personal care stores.
