Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Boost...
After returning from Australia, a product advisor at Body Shop suggested that I try the Vitamin C Skin Boost…
Description:
A glycerin-based skin pick-me-up which is applied prior to moisturizer, the Vitamin C Skin Boost gives a daily radiance lift and antioxidant boost. Restores and protects skin’s glow. Active ingredients include:
- Glycerin – An effective moisturizer which helps improve softness and maximize hydration.
- Lanolin – One of nature’s richest moisturizers. It is readily absorbed by the skin and provides good protection.
- Orange Flower Water – Gently refreshes and hydrates the skin.
- Vitamin C – Helps to fight free radical damage and brightens skin.
Directions:
The instructions are simple enough – simply apply to cleansed face and neck, using your fingertips, in the morning or evening, under your moisturizer.
The Verdict:
It doesn’t get any better than this. The lovely orange scent does wonders for your senses and helps to relax you (which also helps since pimples can be caused by stress!), and the glycerin base provides an excellent protective layer against the elements. As a bonus, it also acts as a good make up base since the Skin Boost actually smoothens out your skin surface.
But here is the real clincher:
Before and After – the one on the left was taken in Australia early 2004 (on a relatively GOOD day, I might add), and the picture on the right was taken in Dec the same year…after just two month’s worth of daily application of the Skin Boost. I still use it till today, and while I’ve gotten the odd breakout now and then, I’ve yet to see a pimple attack anywhere close to my pre-Skin Boost days.
On a side note, the same product advisor that suggested Skin Boost to me? Haha…he’s now a senior product consultant and a firm friend – anytime Body Shop has sales or new products he thinks I’ll like, he drops me a line (also good for business right?). The next time you’re at the Body Shop in Midvalley, look for Man (pronounced ‘Mah-nn’) and tell him I sent you… :)

*note to self* check out TBS Vit C boost. Damn girl! You are positively GLOWING!
I've tried this before. Although it didn't do so much for my skin as it did yours, my skin did feel smoother, so I'd give it a thumbs up :)
And I agree with Paris - you look great!
wow! your skin looks amazing! i heard vit. c is not too good for oily skin, is it true? also, how much is the skin boost? i'm so tempted to get it now :P thanks!
pb & tine: aww, thanks guys! *blush* I admit, I'm really in lurrve with this product...how not to be?? :D
entwined: thanks! vit c can work well with oily skin (i have a really oily t-zone), you just need to find the right carrier (ie. glycerin-base rather than emulsion/cream-base).
Skin Boost is currently RM79 per 30ml bottle - a bit pricey but one bottle can last you up to 3mths (dependent on usage - mine usually lasts abt 2mths)
Hi! Found your blog from PB's site. Reading thru your past reviews & loving it!
On this Body Shop product, i can see that it really does wonders for you! That's y i wanted to try it for myself, since my face is somewhat like your "before" picture.
Anyway, yesterday i was at Body Shop, looking at the product & the sales assistant advised against me buying the product. According to her, it's not suitable for sensitive / oily skin since this product will cause more pimples. She said i can only use it if I don't have pimples. So very reluctantly i put it back on the shelf.
But it did work for you, didn't it? So what do u think of the salesgirl's advice?
i actually went and bought a bottle of these vit c goodness after reading ur review! haha!
like lisa, the sales assistant said the range is not meant for sensitive skin, which is my skin type (combo, and well, sensitive). but then she went on to apply some on my "inner elbow", says thats one of the most sensitive skin area, and that it'll react immediately if i really do have sensitive skin.
but it did not during my whole half hour stay there. so i braced myself and bought it! i've applied once last night and once this morning, so far no irritations.
but hey, i'll let u know the results at the end of the bottle! :) thanks for the review beetrice!
lisa: Skin Boost works on all skin types - if you have pimples, it may have a tingly sensation shortly after application, but that sensation should go away almost immediately.
The salesgirl was probably not too knowledgeable, and was just repeating what she was briefed. Most of the new staff will follow by the book, whereas the more seasoned staff would have tried the products out for themselves.
I'd suggest trying the product out at the outlet first, then if there's no adverse reaction.... :)
leishia: Glad to hear it helped! :) If you haven't had any adverse reactions in 48hrs, you should be in the clear.
But do let me know how it works out for you ya?
Hey, thanks for replying to my comment :) Last nite I went to another Body Shop outlet with the intention of trying out the Skin Boost... but instead got sidetracked & persuaded to buy the Vit C time release capsules instead...
So I'm just gonna try it cautiously first. The good thing is, this sales promotor told me that i can return the product within 7 days if it doesn't suit my skin. Well, keeping my fingers crossed!
lisa: I've never tried the time release capsules - let me know how they work for you? :)
At least you've got that 7 day safety blanket....fingers crossed!
wow this is real??? O_O
what happened to the pimples at all???
prettybeautiful: Oh yeah it's real - photos are unretouched. :) of course, got la small pimples here and there (no product is absolutely perfect), but on the whole I love this product...after three and a half years, I'm still using it! :)
Oh My Goodness! Your skin looks amazing! I was brought here from PB's blog, and seriously, after seeing the pic, I think my next stop will definitely The Body Shop outlet, and I'll look out for Man. =P
Your skin looks porcelain-like and you're seriously glowing! Thanks for a great post! =)
I love this stuff it smells so good.
syen: thanks Syen! do let me know how it works for you!
lydia: smells like Redoxon minus the fizz eh? ;) it's addictive, seriously!

Hi Beetrice, i luv ur blog. U really got me interested in the TBS Vitamin C Skin Boost. Was wondering if u are ever going to do a review on the other products in The Vitamin C line, such as the Time Release Capsules and Micro Refiner??
lizzie: hi lizzie! glad to hear that - I've tried most of the products in TBS' Vit C line, but none have really stood out as much as Skin Boost. But I still do have two of the other products from the Vit C line, so I'll do a comparison of those two. :) stay posted!
I'm a body shop product addict. I must admit. your reviews are great. but the picture on the left looks albeit "photoshopped"
ELL: hi ELL, thanks for the compliment! the photos weren't retouched in any way - i really did look that bad back then (eeks!) all I did was crop the photo since there were other people in it. :)
but if you're thinking that was photoshopped, then there must've been a really big difference. :D (I take that as a good thing!)
Hi, i am shocked seeing those photo difference. Btw, is the skin boost can be used only at night?I'm planning to try this but only to use it as night cream. Can I do that? Thanks
ruthie: hi ruthie, skin boost is more of a serum than a cream, but there's no reason you can't use it just at night. :)
wow,ur skin looks amazing!
i juz bought this vitamin C skin boost 1 week ago because i hv the same problem as yours;the pimples and scars of course.but,i wanna know, this skin boost will cause skin peeling or not?coz i found that lots of whitening product will hv this affect.
rafidah rahmat: hey rafidah, it shouldn't cause any peeling as it's only a glycerin base and not exactly a whitening product. :)
Okay so this is really weird then. So I have used vitamin C skin boost for over two months and I like it but it does cause me to peel. I put it on before my moisturizer and whenever I rub it in, my skin peels under it. It not bad because it acts like a face peel; it leaves my face with fresh new skin and helps clear up my acne. Is this uncommon?

anonymous: hey there, that's quite unusual, I've never experienced anything like that with Skin Boost. I have had my powder foundation flake when applied over Skin Boost though (due to the silicone content), but not otherwise. Good to know it's working for you though!
hi beetrice...i got my self a bottle after reading your reviews. since we dont have bodyshop here, i ordered it online. the bottle i got doesnt have a cornered black peel to read wrapping like the body butters and the picture on uk/us site. also it says skin reviver! not booster..is this the same thing? n this is not the from the new range.cant help thinkin this might be a fake. then again, r there any fake products from bodyshop range?? love all other product so far...and it work wonders..but i m a lil worried about this bottle. how does your bottle look like? i have oily skin and m findin a hard time finding my sole products. so wish me good luck! i even took a picture to see the chnages..haha...btw u look lovely :))

Hi beetrice! :) i love how the Vit C Skin Boost worked out on you. I think I might try it. . . but i'm weighing my option between using the Hiruscar and the Vit C Skin Boost. The Hiruscar is said to have a good result against pimple scars coz i have pitted holes on my skin because of pimples. :( and i also have a few pimple marks. I have sensitive and oily skin and im still studying right now. I would just like to ask help from you what to buy. My mom said the Vit C Skin Boost worked for her before when she had pimples. But im not sure because we have diff type of skin. Thank you in advance for your reply! ü
Hi Beetrice..what foundation did you suggest,so that it will blend together with the vit c skin boost?
now I'd to tell body shop's new product Vit C Facial radiance powder Mix really
work within 10 days.It is supposed for using with 10 days.my face is so dry,so dull and not good skin tone, now my face change a lot..brighter and no fine line and so smooth ...if everyone have skin problem like me ...should try it..now I am very happy with my face...it solved all my skin problem ....thank u The Body Shop..I love it..
